Built on Problem Solving: The No-Tox® Team’s Commitment to Innovation

From improving ink adhesion on tricky substrates to tackling challenging FDA-compliant color matches, our Technical Team is at the core of everything we do at Colorcon No-Tox®. With decades of combined experience and a hands-on, collaborative approach, this team plays a critical role in how we develop, test, and support our ink technologies. The team’s commitment to innovation has evolved into continuous improvement to serve the needs of the market and the customer.

Craig Williams, a seasoned expert with 30 years at Colorcon No-Tox, exemplifies the core strengths we value in our technical team: deep product knowledge, cross-functional collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to helping customers solve problems.  These aspects drive the innovation that takes place in our lab. Whether it’s enhancing rub or grease resistance, or formulating new products to meet evolving regulations, our team works side by side with customers to bring solutions to life.

“My role has evolved quite a bit since I began working at No-Tox 30 years ago. I started in production, moved into lab work, quality control, and later into customer-facing technical roles. That experience brought me to my current role. One of the things I’m most proud of is mentoring the younger members of our team and helping them develop their skills to support our customers.” - Craig Williams, Area Technical Manager.

Hands-On Support, Real Results

At the heart of our product development process is a belief that great solutions come from close collaboration. Our technical and PD teams are constantly working behind the scenes and often directly with customers to find the right ink for the job.

When customers need inks that are safe for food contact and won’t migrate into their products or when they require performance under demanding conditions like moisture or acidity, we respond with urgency and creativity. If you're navigating changing regulatory requirements, our team has the knowledge and expertise to adapt and formulate what you need. We'll meet with you virtually or on site, review your production process, and test new options tailored to your substrate and application.

One example? In response to growing demand for cleaner, safer formulations, we’ve worked with customers to develop temporary tattoo inks free of harmful ingredients like mineral oil and PFAS without compromising performance.

A Flexible, Customer First Approach

What sets our team apart is our willingness to try anything. Whether you need ink samples tested on your own substrate, a new FDA-compliant color matched, or help troubleshooting an existing process, you’ll get direct access to technical experts who are ready to dive in.

“We take a very collaborative approach to challenging customer projects,” Craig explained. “It starts with the Business Development Manager gathering key details, then our technical, procurement, and regulatory teams work together to develop compliant, effective solutions. That cross-functional teamwork is key.”

We don’t believe in one size fits all answers because your product isn’t one size fits all. Whether you’re launching a new food-safe package or adjusting for new compliance rules, we’re here to help you get it right.

Looking Ahead

With decades of experience behind us and a growing team of passionate problem solvers, we’re excited to keep partnering with customers to create inks that are safer, robust, and more effective than ever.  If you’re working on something new or just trying to improve what you already have, we’re ready to help.
