The course is held twice a year at our West Point, PA headquarters. Our 2-day course is intended for those already having practical experience with film-coating technology, especially those engaged in product development, process development, and production technical support and product management. The program includes a detailed theoretical background to the development of film coating formulation and related processes.
Course topics include:
- Preparation of Tablets for Film Coating
- Coating of Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms
- The Value of Color and Film Coating Tablets
- Introduction to Modified Release Film Coating Technology
- Printing Technology for Solid Oral Dosage Forms
- Coating Equipment and the Film Coating Process
- Optimization and Scale-up of the Film Coating Process
- Troubleshooting and Discussion of Problems Associated with Film Coating
- Regulatory Issues – Film Coating & Product Registration
- Participants will have the opportunity to participate in practical sessions using the tablet presses, coating pans, fluid bed and printing equipment.
Course instructors are Colorcon employees whose job responsibilities cover the scope of the topics discussed in class. A list of instructors, along with other knowledgeable contacts, will be provided in the course binder given out during the course.
The course fee is $500 per attendee. It must be paid in advance of the course date selected. The fee includes attendance, all course materials and meals. Only paid registrants will be guaranteed a space in the course. A confirmation package will be mailed approximately six (6) weeks prior to the selected course date.
A block of rooms are reserved at a nearby hotel. Particulars will be included in the confirmation package so that direct confirmation with the hotel can be made. All hotel charges will be the responsibility of the attendee.
