Colorcon and Dow Wolff Cellulosics Extend Controlled Release Alliance into Japan- January 1, 2008
Colorcon now has exclusive, global sales and distribution rights for the following Dow Wolff Cellulosics' products used in controlled release applications: METHOCEL™ PREMIUM hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), ETHOCEL™ PREMIUM ethylcellulose resins, and POLYOX™ water soluble resins NF.
The Controlled Release Alliance was announced by Colorcon and the Dow Chemical Company in March 2007. The Alliance's effective date was July 1, 2007 for North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific (ex Japan). Europe/Middle East/Africa were added to the Alliance as of October 1, 2007 while Japan's addition completes the implementation cycle for the Alliance.
ETHOCEL™, METHOCEL ™ and POLYOX ™ polymers offer an outstanding range of controlled release properties for a wide variety of dosage forms and processing methods. Many variations in molecular weights and chemical substitutions gives the pharmaceutical formulator multiple ways to optimize formulation performance. These Dow polymers, and the company's expertise in polymer science and technology development, complement Colorcon's fully formulated products, applications data, HPMC modeling service (HyperStart®), and global technical service and logistics infrastructure to add unique value to the pharmaceutical customer.

Colorcon Acquires Pharmaceutical Excipients and Coating - September 5, 2007
This acquisition expands Colorcon's global product offerings in the
Pharmaceutical and Nutritional markets. In addition to coatings, acquired products include compressible sugars/NU-Tab®, calcium carbonate/Cal-Carb® and sugar spheres. NU-Tab is used in a wide range of chewable applications, including children's vitamins and medications, and for taste masking bitter or unpleasant drugs. Cal-Carb is an ideal excipient for use in conventional tablets as well as calcium and mineral supplement products. Sugar spheres are used primarily in controlled release formulations. Controlled release formulations using multi particulates provide consistent drug release over time. Using sugar spheres, Colorcon expects to accelerate new product development efforts, as well as improve existing solutions for controlled release.
