Operating Principles

Colorcon® believes that six crucial operating principles are the key to achieving our mission and vision, strategies and goals. These operating principles are:

  • The Golden Rule: Treat others as you would wish to be treated - It emphasizes mutual respect and trustworthiness among co-workers, and also requires colleagues to watch out for one another.
  •
  • Empowerment: Self-initiative followed by action - This is vital at all employee levels and centers on willingness to "pitch in" without being asked. An individual should trust colleagues with responsibility and decision-making, but should personally request "service checks" to seek new challenges and opportunities.

Organize Around the Work: Being in the right place at the right time with the right tools - Processes focused on working together to achieve quality results are of the utmost importance in a global organization. While this involves everyone, individuals must understand their role in the big picture and proactively plan and clearly communicate work schedule commitments.

Speed and Simplicity: Keep it simple, and leverage each other as well as technology for maximum effectiveness - Make "Room for Excellence" in work areas by eliminating non-value added steps. Utilize your colleagues knowledge and utilize tools and technology at your disposal.

Customer Focus: Service excellence is standard - Respond immediately, and go above-and-beyond with every opportunity. Make customers and colleagues expect excellence from you on every request.

Keep Getting Better: Continuous improvement and constant development - Constantly try to improve yourself and those around you by seeking feedback and initiating further development and training. Improve work systems by continuous re-evaluation and ensure quality requirements are consistently applied.
